Nuuk Golf Club invites visitors to experience golf set against the backdrop of arguably the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the world. Situated in the heart of the Greenlandic wilderness, where towering mountains and deep fjords frame every shot, the club offers a unique environment where community, history, and modern facilities converge.

The history of the club began in 1992 when it was founded by Preben Hilfling. In those early years, members practiced on simulators located in the basement of Hotel Hans Egede while the ambition to construct a physical course was developed. Construction on the nine-hole course eventually commenced in 1997, following original sketches designed by Mr Hilfling. The first four holes were completed in 1999, with the final five following in the year 2000 through the efforts of Mogens Øgaard Larsen, owner of the local construction firm Larsen & Co. Players can enjoy an eighteen-hole experience by playing the nine-hole circuit twice. While four of the holes utilise the same teeing grounds for both rounds, the remaining holes feature distinct tees to provide variety during the second half of the game.

Indoor facilities provide further opportunities for play and improvement throughout the year. The club houses two modern Trackman simulators, allowing members to experience exotic courses from warmer climates regardless of the external weather conditions. These facilities serve as a space for both serious practice and social recreation with friends. Within the clubhouse, visitors will find a welcoming lounge area furnished with sofas and tables, alongside a kitchenette, refrigeration, and secure storage lockers for equipment.

Additionally, a boutique pro shop is available on-site, offering essential golfing equipment and souvenirs to commemorate the visit. During the summer months, the club provides barbecue facilities and outdoor furniture, creating a perfect setting for members to enjoy the long Greenlandic evenings after a round on the course.

Amenities

Golfers at Nuuk Golf Club enjoy the rare privilege of playing on natural green grass, a distinctive feature within the Arctic landscape. The course consists of nine holes with a par of thirty-three, extending to a total length of 4,218 metres from the yellow tees and 3,580 metres from the red tees. Although the hole lengths are relatively modest, the environment remains technically demanding and strategically challenging. Constant winds, narrow fairways, and several blind shots require a disciplined and thoughtful approach to every round.

The layout features four par-three holes, four par-four holes, and one par-five hole. Players navigate a terrain where fairways emerge like verdant oases amidst the rugged rocks. Certain sections of the course are shared, specifically between holes two and nine, as well as holes five and six. Due to the absence of trees or bushes to serve as natural landmarks, accuracy from the tee is paramount, particularly as the rocky ground can cause the ball to deflect unpredictably.

For those completing an eighteen-hole round, the course ratings and slopes are as follows:

  • Men – Yellow Tee: CR 67.1 / Slope 118
  • Men – Red Tee: CR 63.7 / Slope 110
  • Women – Yellow Tee: CR 72.1 / Slope 127
  • Women – Red Tee: CR 68.0 / Slope 118

Practice facilities, including nets and a putting green, are situated outside the clubhouse adjacent to the car park. The clubhouse itself provides golf bags and clubs for hire, alongside a pro shop stocked with essential gear and souvenirs to commemorate the visit. A comprehensive fee of 500 Danish Krone per person covers the green fee, general services, and the use of rental equipment.
